Vietnamese Street Food: Bánh Tráng Nướng (a.k.a Vietnamese Pizza)

Seriously this is the most underrated “pizza” I’ve ever had in my life. Though some may argue its like a Vietnamese taco depending on how you hold it. But I prefer Pizza because of how the dish is presented. I had my first bite of this scrumptious snack when I was visiting the Asian Garden/Vietnamese Night Market in Westminster, CA! If you want to see other things that I got or what the experience was like you can click here: Asian Garden Night Market !

Anyways, one of the first snacks I got my little hands on was this Bánh Tráng Nướng aka Vietnamese Pizza and it was jam packed with ingredients from pork, green onions, eggs, sriracha and Japanese mayo! All these toppings were than served on the CRISPY rice paper that was grilled over hot flames! Now I’ve been around rice paper my whole life and never have I ever seen a grilled rice paper before. Lmao.

It was honestly hugeeeee by the time the order got to me, I ended up folding it in half to contain all the toppings. Such a hazard when you’re walking and eating outside. All the combination of the ingredients hits ya’ll. From the seasoned pork to the scallion oil, everything worked in harmony! And to use a grilled rice paper to serve as its base? Brilliant, dare I say?

I wanted to see if I could create an easy version of this recipe at home since everything seemed easy enough. It took more of prepping each topping more than anything. You can also try using other toppings as well but I like the OG way so I’m gonna show you it with my favorite toppings.

I also used this indoor grill I got from Hamilton Beach, which I highly recommend by the way, it makes whipping these up a breeze! You can also use a regular grill too and I def do recommend grilling it to get that authentic taste. To be honest I haven’t tried it on a pan yet but we shall see. Any takers? Let me know if you do.

For today’s video, we’re doing it a little different and posting as #ASMR video! If you don’t know what an ASMR video is, it’s basically a video that causes a tingling sensation or in my own terms, videos with life sounds/whispers/without music. I get asked more often than I thought for ASMR videos of my cooking and I would love to do them more often but unfortunately, I live across from construction. Thus, making it almost impossible.

But lucky for you, there was no construction this particular Sunday. So here’s the recipe and video for ya!

Until next time!
