My name is Jen Dao & I’m a foodie currently based in Seattle, WA!

Originally born & raised in a small town in Minnesota, I grew up with a lot of traditional Vietnamese food because of my parent’s home cooking.

Today, I’m sharing my unique twist on modern Vietnamese and American cooking through socials.

1 cup glutinous rice flour (mochiko flour)
1 1/2 cup tapioca starch
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup whole milk
1 large egg
2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 pink dragon fruit
Oil for frying

Glaze Topping:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp pureed dragon fruit

strawberry pop-tarts? berry iconic. 🍓 inspired by @poptartsus, you know your girl had to do an easier version with puff pastry. though not traditional, we ended up loving the flaky layered aspect. 🥐

1 cup fresh strawberries (chopped)
3 tbsp granulated sugar

For the Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
2-3 tbsp strawberry filling/puree
½ tsp vanilla extract
Optional: sprinkles for decoration

Current mood: donut care, unless it’s Bánh Tiêu. 🍩🤷‍♀️ Known as Vietnamese hollow donuts, these lightly sweetened donuts are perfect for snacking.

Traditional recipes often call for yeast and time for the dough to rise, but we’re doing quick, no-yeast version cause ain’t nobody got time for that. 🙂‍↔️

Pandan, Pandan, Pandan. 🍪💚 recently got my hands on some fresh pandan leaves, so you know we had to make some cookies outta them!

Wet Ingredients

1 tsp pandan extract (optional, for extra color and flavor)
6 fresh pandan leaves

Vietnamese coffee, but make it egg-stra. ☕🥚 Vietnamese egg coffee is a creamy, custard-like top paired with a robust coffee base, creating the perfect balance of sweet and bitter.
