The Easiest Treat: Chuối Chiên (Fried Banana)

I know what you’re thinking and these are not fish sticks lol. Today we’re making probably the easiest Vietnamese snack, it’s Chuối Chiên aka fried bananas.

In Vietnamese Chuối means banana, and Chiên means fried. It’s a very popular Vietnamese street food snack and it’s super easy to make! I recommend using ripe bananas for this because it’s crucial to add to the sweetness of the treat.

Traditionally, it uses mini bananas, also known as baby bananas. They’re much shorter than other American bananas that you see but I had only American bananas on here which works just as fine. All you have to do is cut it in half and flatten it, but for the mini bananas, you just have to flatten.

I also used coconut oil to fry the bananas because it has a high smoke point and it also adds a nice coconut, aromatic and flavor to the banana. Which was surprisingly delicious.
