Of quartz I love crystals!
So a few of my most viral videos has been my crystal candy ones. So I wanted to play around and create a fun series on it!
This month because of spring I wanted to do something more floral. So today we are making colorful and edible butterfly pea flower crystals!
Butterfly pea flower is one of my favorite natural teas to use to add a little bit of flavor and a lot of color to things! Fun fact: when you add lemon juice to it, it magically changes to pink!
The fun part about this is being able to cut out the shapes. It might take some time but it’s really worth it to see the fun crystals that come out!

Colorful and Edible Butterfly Pea Flower Crystals

5 tsp agar agar powder
1 3/4 c cold water
3 c sugar
1 tsp butterfly pea flower tea
2 tbsp hot water
2 tbsp lemon juice
Directions
- Pour agar into a small pot of water. Let bloom for 5 mins. Mix.
- Bring to a boil and simmer for 5-6 mins. Remove from heat.
- Grease pan with some oil and pour in mixture.
- Make tea and steep for 10 mins. Remove flowers. Split tea in 1/2 and add lemon juice to one.
- Drop the two colors in and swirl with a toothpick. (You can also use food color)
- Refrigerate for 2 hrs then but into crystal pieces.
- Let sit at room temp for 5-7 days or until outside is hardened.
